Otter Hound
Breeders
Otter
Hounds are a very rare breed which came from Britain around the 1200's where it was used
to hunt otters. In 1978 otters were declared endangered in Britain.
Therefore
many Otter Hounds were destroyed. Fortunately the breeders club was formed and developed a
standard profile for this dog thus saving the breed from extinction.
Otter
Hounds measure an average of 26 inches at the shoulder and can weigh up to 115 pounds.
Their rough, water resistant coats come in a variety of colors. They are quite
attractive and intelligent. Weekly brushing is recommended. Country life where it can roam the wide open spaces is most ideal for this rather
large dog. Contact the dog breeders below for your next family
friend.
